Teaching with the Story Pirates

STORY PIRATES - NEW YORK TEACHING ARTIST AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Story Pirates (www.storypirates.org) is an education and media company based in New York and Los Angeles, which pairs experienced teachers with talented artists to collaborate with schools and community organizations in creating exciting, dynamic classes covering a broad range of academic topics.

We are currently looking for new teaching artists to work in our New York-based after-school programs and in-school residencies:

  • -Prospective teachers should have at least 2 years of experience working with kids, either in a classroom or alternative educational setting, and should be VERY comfortable being dramatic, silly, and ready to think on their feet.
  • -Our teaching artists work as a team to engage kids using our curriculum, which is packed full of Viking costumes, giant plush monster attacks, secretive extra-terrestrial organizations, and evil monarchs bent on taking over your classroom.
  • -Spanish speakers (and other dual language speakers) are especially encouraged to apply. Please make a special note of your language skills when e-mailing us.

If interested, please send a cover letter and resume to teaching@storypirates.org by October 14th 2011.
